Job description

Position Overview:

qnectU is a dynamic and rapidly growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) dedicated to delivering top-notch IT, Cybersecurity, and Compliance solutions to our clients. Our commitment to excellence and innovation has positioned us as a trusted partner in the industry. We value individuals who take ownership, strive for continuous improvement, and infuse fun into their work. Our South African company, Uboni SA (Pty) Ltd., is currently seeking a strong and talented Accountant / Controller to join our team remotely from South Africa.

We are seeking a meticulous and motivated Controller / Accountant to handle our financial operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, general ledger entries, taxes, and the generation of monthly accounting reports. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to identifying and correcting errors, and the ability to produce precise financial reports for management.

While this is a high-level position, we are seeking a candidate who is equally comfortable with hands-on responsibilities, such as data entry, reconciling, and reporting. If you are seeking a role focused solely on oversight or management, this may not be the right fit for you.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable: Ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, adherence to approval protocols, and effective communication with vendors.

  • Accounts Receivable: Handle accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, cash application, and resolution of client inquiries, while ensuring prompt collection of outstanding balances.

  • General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in compliance with US GAAP.

  • Reconciliation: Conduct regular reconciliations of bank statements, accounts, and financial data to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Financial Reporting: Generate accurate and timely monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules, providing insights into the company's financial health.

  • Error Identification and Correction: Develop and utilize reporting tools to detect discrepancies or errors, implementing corrective actions prior to management review.

  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial systems, processes, and internal controls, driving operational efficiency and scalability.

  • Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations; assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights.

  • Tax Preparation: Prepare and manage tax documentation for both South Africa and the United States, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA(US) / CA(SA) or CMA certification is highly preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years working with US-based employer(s). Experience within an MSP or IT services environment is advantageous.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of US GAAP, expertise in QuickBooks desktop and online (QuickBooks Certifications advantageous and preferred), and advanced Excel skills.

  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Integrity and Confidentiality: High ethical standards with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting.

Work Environment:

This is a remote position based in South Africa. The role requires working US business hours in a dynamic and fast-paced environment where prioritization and adaptability are key.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us:

  • Competitive Salary: Enjoy a lucrative compensation package designed to recognize your expertise and experience.

  • Remote Freedom: Work from anywhere in South Africa while staying connected with a dynamic and supportive remote team.

  • Career Advancement: Benefit from abundant opportunities for professional growth and career progression with a leading IT services provider.

  • Personal Fulfillment: Engage with top-tier clients and feel good knowing that you play a crucial role in facilitating the team's success.
